Katy Trail

Helmets on and about to leave a B&B.

Missouri River along the trail

A break at one of the many historical markers along the trail.
We spent four days riding our bikes on the Katy Trail in Missouri.  It's an old railroad that has been converted into a trail.  Turns out there's quite a few of these "rail to trail" projects across the US.  We covered 150 miles from Booneville to St Charles staying at bed and breakfasts along the way.

Just after the shuttle dropped us off at our starting point in Booneville.

Starting point, bikes ready.

Tunnel along the trail.

Burr Oak Tree
A much needed break...

that sounds really cool. what a great idea about the RR turned into trails...though i would really love the railways to become more popular again...sigh. sounds like a really nice trip!

Yeah, I'd love for train travel to make a come back as well. We've done quite a bit on Amtrak, but not always the best experience.

In Northern VA there's a rail right of way that was turned into a trail. Now, here, it's paved and heavily traveled, but I still think it's a great thing to do with an otherwise odd strip of land.

Your trip sounds like such fun!
